As anyone who knows me is aware, I'm a huge fan of online adoptables sites. To that end, I've managed to collect a VAST array of adoptables from all over the 'Net. I started with Dragon Cave (which explains the URL), and expanded from there. On this page are all the online cybercritters I've managed to collect.
Dragon Cave (click the golden text above) is a site on which you can "steal" dragon eggs and raise the dragons inside. This is a virtual pet site, of course. Once the egg is stolen, if the person doesn't want it, the egg can be abandoned for other people to raise (the story definition is that the mother dragon won't touch it if it has the scent of a human on it). Most of my eggs have been from the abandoned stash. You can view them all in one go by clicking "Aradir's Dragons". Because I have too many dragons to just list all of them, listed below are only my hatchlings and eggs. Here they are:
I'm not the only one that's into this sort of thing, either! Here's some of my friends' scrolls. Visit and give views and clicks, so the little dragons can grow into big dragons!
Anyway, enjoy, and be sure click on the dragons. They need clicks to grow up, or they'll die, the poor little helpless things (*guiltguiltguilt!*)! Be sure to adopt one of these cute little things for yourself; people throw eggs away all the time.
Dragon Cave Fansites
Because the dragons need views/clicks, several fansites have been established to make it possible for the eggs to get the requisite number of views/clicks to grow up. Below are a few that I use regularly:
Easy as pie to use! Completely automated site that purports to do all the necessary tasks associating with care of the eggs/hatchlings, transferring them automatically to the proper sections as they mature. No registration necessary, just add your little ones. It's never given me any serious problems, though trying to use the site while it's still loading pages can mess things up. Just be sure to let the whole page load before clicking on things, and everything should work fine.
A well made clix-4-clix site that requires you to register for an account. It's a minor thing to sign up, and after you do, you can add your eggs. Beware, though, if you don't log in every day and click twenty other eggs per day, your eggs/hatchlings will be removed from the site. However, the site's easy to navigate interface makes getting in the requisite number of clicks per day easy as pie.
A fairly new fansite that offers views for views. No registration necessary. There's a block of code they ask that you to post in return for using their service, and here that is:
Simply-designed site with a "chef" theme. No registration necessary, just specify whether you want to add or remove your scroll, and voila! You're set up. Not a graphically-intense site, which is good for a slow connection, and the database seems relatively stable.
This is a forum, actually, and they have a post count minimum to stay there. So far I haven't had any trouble keeping up, though, but I've only been there for a very short time. The staff and other members seem friendly and willing to help, so go on and swing by, give it a look. Besides, you can eventually get your own forum thread there to post your little ones.
This site seems a little messed up, as it will sling you to unfound pages on Dragon Cave while you're trying to add your eggs/hatchlings. And it has no emergency area, either. All in all, not a bad site...but really needs some major work.
Another site where a player can adopt one of eight kinds of dragons--and growing! The staff has recently added two new dragons, and there's probably going to be more as the site grows. While it will probably never have quite the amount of dragon types that Dragon Cave has, it's still a supremely awesome site, definitely worth a look. DragonAdopters requires feeding of dragons, and incorporates the use of resources that the dragons produce--aura and scales or fur, depending on the breed--as currency. It also allows the use of dragon resources to create of items that the dragons can wear. There's a fully functional forum, and you can even play a lottery-type game on other dragons' pages. Definitely worth a look. Here are my dragons:
Name: Nimshorion Species: Eastern Dragon Sex: Male Element: Water
Name: Ahquisahal Species: Felidragon Sex: Male Element: Fire
Name: Nimasarruil Species: Furdragon Sex: Male Element: Fire
Name: Yazantar Species: Pterodragon Sex: Male Element: Gold
Name: Aldrim Species: Western Dragon Sex: Male Element: Silver
Name: Kethama Species: Eastern Dragon Sex: Female Element: Air
Another "snag the eggs" site, slightly less stressful that Dragon Cave. While it too uses a main page that has the eggs that you grab, it doesn't seem to be too difficult for people with slow connections to grab the eggs they want. Though whether it's because there aren't as many people competing or whether it's something in the page's code I have no idea. In any case, the site uses the theme of a river with eggs floating in it, with the player as a mage who is seeking animal companions/mounts. The game is built around a forum, and does require registering. I have four creatures thus far, all eggs. I'll be putting only the eggs or creatures that need to grow here. Here's what I have so far:
Vasana here is a Naga that I rescued in the jungles of Raza, and in exchange for bringing him the egg of a Manticore, he offered to come back to my part of the Keep (which you can also visit to see the rest of my critters, those that are adults) and watch over my eggs and hatchlings.
A Pokémon adoptables site--how cool is that?! Unlike the Pokémon games, you don't traipse through a world of wild Pokémon, criminal organizations, and trainers seeking to beat the snot out of you and your precious babies. This is a Pokémon farm. This is what I have so far.
Another Pokémon adoptables site, this one's based around a forum. Just got a few things from here, as I'm still looking around the site. Nonetheless, here's what I got so far.
A cute little site that, like Dragon Cave, offers you adoptables to click and collect. Except these? Are flowers! Very interesting, not something I've ever seen before. I've just started on here, too, so there's not a lot else I can tell you about the site as of yet. Will keep you posted. As usual, here are the seeds I've picked up from there:
Rather cute little site with some really nice little pets you can adopt. I haven't been there too long, so I don't know much about it. It's simply designed, so a slower connection won't explode while using it, but still well-thought out. I have a few pets here, not many though.
